Viewers of Jennifer Lopez‘s Amazon Prime documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, may have been so invested in how Lopez passionately discussed her relationship with Ben Affleck that they missed one shocking element. Did Lopez admit she kept in touch with the Oscar winner while he was married to Jennifer Garner?
In The Greatest Love Story Never Told, Lopez revealed Affleck kept all their love letters and emails to one another. The twist was that some were written while Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner from 2004 to 2018.
“This book is a book Ben gave me on our first Christmas back together. It is every letter and email we wrote to each other from 20 years ago and today,” Lopez told her musical collaborators, showing them the large binder.
She shared that one note read “The Greatest Love Story Never Told by Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck 2001-2010…and counting…”
Looking at the timeline of Garner and Affleck’s relationship, by 2010, he and Garner had two children. They welcomed a third in 2012 after marrying in 2005.
Therefore, did Lopez accidentally reveal to the world that she and Affleck remained emotionally connected to each other while he was married to Garner? Since the documentary’s debut, Affleck has not commented on the timeline of their correspondence.
However, he did speak of the book on camera. “Things that are private. I’ve always felt they are sacred and special because they’re private. So [sharing the book] was something of an adjustment for me.”
On the track “not.going.anywhere.” Ben is credited in the liner notes for the background vocals on the love song. Near the song’s end, he’s heard declaring, “I love you. I always have.”
“Eternally yours, I don’t feel that fading/Looking at my man like, ‘That’s my baby,’” are some of the words to the song Affleck is featured in. “Thinking ’bout it now, I was hoping you’d save me.”
In an interview with USA TODAYa bout This Is Me…Now, Lopez said, “I wanted to make a record in a way I hadn’t done for a long time. I never thought I’d get a second chance at this love. I’d like to capture this moment in time because I feel it’s even more incredible than the first time.”
