Breaking: Jennifer Lopez Felt Her Entourage Always Ruined Her Romantic Relationships…See More
Jennifer Lopez has found love quite a few times over the years. But it’s also often led to heartbreak when she discovers she’s not as compatible with her partner as she once thought.
After meditating on her love life, Lopez wondered if the company she kept might’ve been indirectly sabotaging her relationships.
Lopez often has a team surrounding her to help maintain her various businesses and keep her camera ready.
But there were reports not too long ago that her group of personal assistants was beginning to take their toll on her ex Ben Affleck. The rumor was that Lopez’s devoted glam squad clashed with Affleck’s more mellow, casual lifestyle.
“Jennifer has a big entourage that follows her around daily… She’s tried to make Ben understand that being Jennifer Lopez is a 24/7 job. She is her brand, she lives and breathes it while Ben can leave his work at the door if he chooses to,” a source once said according to the Hindustan Times.
Affleck has also spoken personally about the overwhelming attention Lopez attracts wherever she goes. It was a level of fame and glamour that he never experienced despite his own celebrity.
“I don’t like a lot of attention. This is why people see me and they’re like, ‘Why is this dude always mad?’ Because someone had their camera sticking in my face, and I’m like, ‘OK, here we go,’” he said.
There may be a bit of truth to reports that Lopez’s entourage played a role in her divorce from Affleck. Years before the two reunited, Lopez theorized that all of her partners felt awkward with her entourage.
“There’s a lot of people in my life and that’s hard,” she once said according to Elle. “There’s people in the house. There’s hair and makeup. It’s a lot, I think, for someone to deal with.”
She asserted that most of her partners already had a lot to deal with from outside sources. A relationship with Lopez often meant being the constant focus of the media and the subject of daily gossip. To also share Lopez with a troupe of makeup artists, designers and managers on a regular basis might’ve been too much. Even for her most famous partners.
“Forget about all the outside stuff, being judged, being under scrutiny in the relationship,” she added. “I guess that adds in… but I think [my exes] would say that [the entourage] was a big part of their discomfort, if there was any.”
It seemed Lopez and her entourage also might’ve rubbed people who she wasn’t in a relationship with the wrong way. At least if former View host Meaghan McCain is to be believed. On her podcast Citizen McCain, she famously expressed her disappointment in Lopez and her team during their visit.
“She just is a deeply unpleasant person,” McCain said. “She had the biggest entourage I’ve ever seen. More than Kim Kardashian and the president. I just don’t really understand why it was needed.”
McCain also felt Lopez’s own attitude left a lot to be desired.
McCain also felt Lopez’s own attitude left a lot to be desired.
“I was a host at The View, she was not nice. You don’t always have to be so nice, but it was surprising that people like Kim Kardashian couldn’t be more delightful. When you’re coming on a show for a 10-minute segment, just fake it ‘til you make it for 10 f***ing minutes,” she said.
However, her guest at the time, Carlos King, had a completely opposite experience with Lopez. King is a reality TV show producer who’s been involved with popular projects such as The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Love & Hip Hop. And according to the TV mogul, he met a very different Lopez years earlier.
“She was so nice, and she didn’t have a big entourage,” King said. “I went to see J. Lo in Vegas and — top 5 shows I’ve ever been to in my life. She performed and danced for 90 minutes straight — no break. She’s a hard worker, and I was shocked that people weren’t buying the tickets.”
