Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s 20-year love story was one for the books, though, it ultimately didn’t work out in the end. Amid her divorce from Affleck, Lopez reflected on just how complicated relationships can be.

“Relationships are complicated,” Lopez said, while speaking with The Guardian about her latest movie, Unstoppable, in which she plays Judy, a victim of domestic abuse.

“We’ve all been in complicated relationships in our lives, so we all understand that to a certain degree—where you’re somewhere where you’re like, this doesn’t feel right, this doesn’t feel good, this feels a little weird, this feels a little abusive. We can all relate to that or understand that in some way.”

In the film—which is also produced by Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company, Artists Equity—Lopez portrays the mother of champion wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg.

Although, they’re going their separate ways romantically, Affleck had only the most positives things to say about Lopez’s performance in the movie. “Jennifer is spectacular,” Affleck gushed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“I’m most looking forward to spending time with my kids and my family coming out from the East Coast,” she told the outlet of her upcoming time off, explaining that the holidays is a “special time” for her and her family.
