Royal Family live Update: Kate Middleton treats Prince William to his favourite meal – and it’s very British…See More
Princess Kate keeps a bit of normality in the Royal Family and makes sure life with Prince William and her children is pretty down-to-earth.
And when speaking during an engagement in 2019, Kate told how she often involves her children in cooking activities.
A classic British dish, roast chicken, is reportedly one of Prince William’s preferred dinners. It is a meal Kate frequently prepared for her husband.
In Vanity Fair in 2012, royal reporter Katie Nicholl said: “In the evenings she indulges her hobby of cooking William’s favourite supper, roast chicken.”
These intimate insights into their family life date back to when William and Kate were newlyweds living on the Isle of Anglesey while William served as a search and rescue pilot with the Royal Air Force (RAF).
The Express reports that despite roast chicken being Prince William’s favourite dish, the Royal Family are known to enjoy a wide range of cuisines.
On a visit to St Luke’s Community Centre in London in 2018, Kate joined children making pizzas. She then said: “I’ve done that with George and Charlotte – making pizza dough. They love it because they can get their hands messy.”
The Duke and Duchess were promoting the Commonwealth Big Lunch project at the time, donning aprons and preparing food.
An international celebration of the Commonwealth, the project encourages people to join together in community acts.
The prince and princess also enjoy the occasional takeaway, with Indian or Chinese known as their top choices.
In a 2017 interview with BBC Radio 1 host Scott Mills, they confirmed they are “absolutely” allowed to order takeaways. Kate revealed her favourite is “curry, definitely”, while William admitted he’s “not so good with spice”.
Even Queen Camilla, who has access to world-class chefs, enjoys the occasional takeaway.
In an interview with her son Tom Parker Bowles for YOU Magazine, she revealed her favourite takeaway is traditional fish and chips, saying: “Freshly cooked fish and chips, wrapped in paper. That smell. You cannot beat proper fish and chips.”
She shares a fondness for the same fayre as her mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II. It has been previously reported the late monarch also had a soft spot for fish and chips.
Among drink choices, the royals also have their favourites which they enjoy when winding down at the end of the day.
Kate’s tipple of choice is one of the most popular drinks across the UK, so many people can likely to her choice of what to drink when it comes time to wind after a busy day – gin and tonic. A palace insider was reported by Edinburgh Live as saying “William will bring Kate a gin and tonic. They look after each other but in different ways.”
The couple have joked around before about the shared household responsibilities and how they are divided up.
During an appearance on Radio 1, they joked with one another about who would be cooking dinner that night when they got home, with Kate saying: “You’re looking at me?” before admitting she would probably make a teriyaki salmon or curry for their family.
